Opening in May 2012, the new Bupa Bankstown is a 144 bed residential aged care home catering to low care, high care, dementia and extra service needs.

The home features predominately single rooms with ensuites; however, a number of couple’s companion rooms are available.  The rooms are spacious and readily adaptable to meet increasing care needs so residents may ‘age in place’.  All areas are light and airy with wide corridors and garden view windows.  Particular attention has been paid to the building’s orientation to maximise winter sun and summer shade.

The home is surrounded by gardens and courtyards providing good shade, flowering trees and shrubs, and activity lawns. 

Dementia Expertise

Bupa specialises in the care of people living with dementia. All Bupa Bankstown employees receive training in dementia care equipping them with strategies to the enhance quality-of-life for people living with dementia.

The new home incorporates specialised internal and external environments designed to engage people living with dementia and promote their sense of well-being.

The courtyards adjacent to the dementia care units include familiar domestic areas such as clothes lines, raised planters, an aviary and a men’s tool shed. 

Internal destinations include a faux kitchen/ dining room in 1950s style, a women’s sewing room and men’s themed games room. These specialised destinations can be enjoyed by all residents but are especially beneficial for people living with dementia, encouraging them to engage in familiar and meaningful activity.

Reflecting the care needs of our residents, Bupa Banora Point has taken an innovative approach to dementia care. Our staff have undertaken dementia specific training, developed in conjunction with mental health experts to ensure they have the increased knowledge and understanding necessary to care for our residents with dementia.

At Bupa Banora Point we pride ourselves on remaining actively engaged with the local community and have volunteers visiting the facility to provide a helping hand on a day-to-day basis. In addition, every single staff member –from support through to nursing – are 100% committed to providing the care you need, the way you want it.
