A popular entry for an aged care worker is through Certificate III in age care work, It is usually undertaken through a TAFE course. This may be done full or part time, and then may be followed by a Certificate IV in Aged care work.

Certificate III in Aged Care Work

Assisting people with their personal care needs dealing with emotional and psychosocial needs dementia care communication providing direct care and support services for the aged residing in both residential and/or community based settings and following OH procedures

Certificate IV in Aged Care Work

Implementing and monitoring OH&S policies and procedures maintaining an effective work environment and electives maintaining an organization's information systems planning and conducting group activities planning and monitoring service delivery plans providing services to older people with complex needs supporting older people to meet their emotional and psychosocial needs undertaking administrative work utilizing specialist communication skills to build strong relationships working within a legal and ethical framework and delivering and developing client services.
